Vacancy: Property Solicitor / Legal Executive
We are seeking a Property Solicitor / Legal Executive to join our busy Conveyancing department, who has experience in and can undertake residential property work and specifically Buy to Let property purchases and Auction work. The successful candidate will be a motivated, hardworking individual who has a real ambition to succeed, and who has a willingness to develop and expand our existing business in this area. There may be opportunity to also gain knowledge and experience of commercial property work in the future.
WHAT WILL YOUR DAY LOOK LIKE?
No one day is ever the same in our busy office, but your main areas of work and responsibilities will include the following:
Client service
- Undertaking legal work for the benefit of the clients of the firm
Team working
- Working loyally and effectively as a member of the firm
- Supervising the work of Legal Assistants, and others as may from time to time be required
- Ensuring ongoing competency training including completing compliance training
Financial contribution
- The meeting of fee earning targets both monthly and annually
- Appropriate management of debtors, including obtaining funds on account of costs and disbursements in accordance with departmental policy from time to time
Business development
- Participation in business development activities including supporting existing fee earners
- Building, maintaining and nurturing an appropriate network of contacts, referrers and business partners with the aim of winning new work
- Fostering and developing relationships with both existing and past clients to ensure repeat instructions are received
- Working with our Marketing team to develop and successfully market the department including to help create and implement business development strategies.
- Attending networking events on behalf of the firm
- Other ad hoc business development activity as and when required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Sound relevant experience required, gained within a respected Private Client team
- It is likely that the successful candidate will be as a minimum a newly qualified solicitor / CILEX, with experience of Private Client work as described above. With this role there is flexibility in terms of the level of qualification, and if needed
- training can be given
- Some experience of managing support staff is preferred, but not essential
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong academic background with a law degree being an advantage
- Well-developed interpersonal skills – an ability to interact with people at all levels and able to inspire confidence in customers and colleagues
- Sound legal research skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

- Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
