Phil qualified as a Solicitor in 2006 having trained and qualified at a regional firm in Newcastle upon Tyne before joining Richard Reed in 2008. Phil was made Partner in November 2011 and thereafter became a Director of the firm in November 2012 when Richard Reed Ltd was incorporated. He specialises in Dispute Resolution and Company and Commercial work.
Phil acts on behalf of Limited Companies, Partnerships and Individuals in all aspect of civil disputes including but not limited to Contract disputes, Partnership disputes, Shareholder/Director disputes, Debt recovery, both Company and individual Insolvency matters, Landlord and Tenant disputes, Professional Negligence claims and contentious Probate disputes. Phil regularly attends both the County and High Court.
His approach in civil disputes is to seek to resolve matters if at all possible at an early stage and to explore all options of seeking to reach an amicable settlement including exploring Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution before resorting to Court proceedings. However, should proceedings be required, Phil is able to represent clients from issue of proceedings to final trial.
Phil also has keen interest in Company and Commercial work and has advised clients in relation to Share sales, Share company buyback agreements, drafting bespoke and amending Articles of Association, removal of Directors and Share Purchase Agreements. Outside work Phil enjoys spending time with his family and friends and, when time, allows playing golf.
