Phil Moir

Phil qualified as a Solicitor in 2006, having trained and qualified at a regional firm in Newcastle upon Tyne before joining Richard Reed in 2008. Phil was made Partner in November 2011 and subsequently became a Director, of the firm in November 2012 when Richard Reed Ltd was incorporated.

He specialises in Dispute Resolution and Company and Commercial work and is Head of the Dispute Resolution and Company & Commercial Services Team.

Phil acts on behalf of Limited Companies, Partnerships and Individuals in all aspects of civil disputes including, but not limited to, contract disputes, partnership disputes, shareholder and director disputes, debt recovery, both company and individual insolvency matters, landlord and tenant disputes, professional negligence claims and contentious probate disputes. Phil regularly represents clients in both the County Court and the High Court.

His approach to civil disputes is to seek to resolve matters, where possible, at an early stage and to explore all available options to reach an amicable settlement, including mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution, before resorting to court proceedings. However, where proceedings are required, Phil is experienced in representing clients from the issue of proceedings through to final trial.

Phil also has a keen interest in Company and Commercial work and has advised clients in share sales, share buyback agreements, asset purchase agreement, drafting bespoke or amended Articles of Association.

In addition, Phil also advises client’s in relation to commercial contract agreements, drafting terms and conditions of business, partnership agreements and shareholder agreements.

Alongside his work at Richard Reed Solicitors, Phil is also a Board Member of the Sunderland Business Partnership, supporting initiatives that promote collaboration and economic growth across the city’s business community.

Outside of work, Phil actively volunteers at a local football club by managing his eldest son’s football team, and he enjoys spending time with his family and friends and, when time allows, playing golf.
