Lisa graduated from the University of Northumbria with a LLB (Hons) degree and qualified as a solicitor in 2000 having trained with a City firm in London where she was seconded to the Turks and Caicos Islands for 6 months assisting the Attorney General’s office.
Having spent the beginning of her career with a large international German law firm in London and working in-house as a Senior Employment Solicitor for the public sector, Lisa relocated back to her native North East to become a Partner and Head of Employment at a law firm in South Tyneside.
Lisa was then recruited by a large North East family run company as their Group In-house Solicitor and Head of HR for over 1,000 employees where she was exposed to a variety of work in both the Leisure and Care sectors. She was also appointed as the Authorising Officer for the company’s Sponsorship Licence and handled all immigration matters in relation to sponsored overseas recruitment, policies and procedures particularly in the Care sector.
Lisa joined our firm in November 2017 to develop the firm’s Employment & HR department and has over 19 years’ experience in a wide range of employment law and HR matters including advising on employment contracts, staff handbooks, redundancies/restructurings and TUPE transactions, dealing with disciplinaries, grievances, sickness absence and performance management issues. Lisa also has extensive experience in a variety of contentious matters including unfair dismissals, constructive dismissals and discrimination claims working mainly for employers.
Lisa is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association
In addition, Lisa provides advice to employers on immigration law including Tier 2 immigration sponsorship and license requirements.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys attending music festivals and is a regular at jazz gigs across the North East.
