Barry has worked at Richard Reed for over 30 years and prior to that trained with a firm of solicitors in Hartlepool for 9 years. He was admitted as a Fellow of CILEx (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives) on 6 August 1986 and is also a Director at Richard Reed.

Barry joined our firm in June 1987 and specialises in a whole range of Civil Law, advice and assistance to clients including Personal Dispute Resolution. He has over 42 years’ experience in dealing with many different types of dispute too numerous to list. His experience also includes drafting of or advising on contractual documents of claims and remedies.

His experience in Court proceedings includes Disputes in the County Court, High Court, Court of Appeal and the European Court of Justice.

He always seeks to resolve matters either amicably or by negotiation including if necessary formal or informal mediation or ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution). Failing such resolution he can pursue such disputes to Court proceedings and or insolvency action as necessary.

He has a firm belief in building long-term client relationships where there is mutual trust and understanding. The majority of Barry’s cases are from existing long-standing clients and from referrals from existing clients or other legal professionals.

Barry adopts a down-to-earth, practical approach and he has the ability to communicate and present legal issues in an understandable way. He is proactive always looking to provide a high level of service with a friendly and responsive approach. He is a lateral thinking, experienced and dependable.

Outside work Barry is a family man and is an enthusiastic cyclist.  He also practices Yoga regularly.
