Child care proceedings

If you are involved in child care proceedings, it can be an extremely distressing and uncertain time. Our Family Law team provides clear, supportive advice and representation to help you understand the process and protect your position.

Understanding child care proceedings

Child care proceedings are usually brought by the local authority when there are concerns about a child’s safety or welfare. The Court will consider whether a Care Order or Supervision Order is necessary and what arrangements are in the child’s best interests.

These cases can move quickly and involve detailed evidence, including social work assessments and expert reports. Parents and others with parental responsibility are entitled to legal representation and, in most cases, Legal Aid is available.

Our role is to guide you through each stage of the process, ensure your voice is heard and provide strong representation in Court.
