New probate rates unlikely to speed up the system

The Ministry of Justice announced last month that the cost of going through probate was to increase from £155 for professional users and £215 for people not going through a solicitor, to an across-the-board-fee of £273. This despite users of the MOJ probate system still having to wait as long as nine weeks for their documentation.

As a result of this, Wendy Mustard, Solicitor and Head of Wills, Trusts & Probate with Richard Reed has given her support to a campaign launched by Solicitors for the Elderly, which is calling for the system to be updated and improved as soon as possible.

You can read more about this and the impact that the under performing system is having on bereaved families in a recent article by BDaily News here.
